2009 Tribute Red-

This wine was created to commemorate the life of Kestrel Vintners owner, John Walker.  He founded Kestrel to craft wines of both superior quality and value.  The culmination of innovative winemaking, passion and dreams were blended together and matured to perfection in oak barrels for 18 months.  This complex blend is a tribute to John Walker’s legacy in the Washington state wine industry, and represents the very best in our Falcon series.

Vinification:  This wine was created to commemorate the life of John Walker.  He created Kestrel Vintners to craft wines of both superior quality and value.  This complex blend is a tribute to John Walker’s involvement in theWashingtonState wine industry.  It is mainly a blend of Mourvedre and Merlot.  The Merlot lends strength and structure while the Mourvedre introduces beauty and elegance.  We aged the wine in 30% new French and American oak for 18 months.

Winemaker Notes:  The wine is black with dark crimson edges.  In the aroma you will find ripe dark fruits such as; cherry, currant and elderberry. These fruit flavors are accompanied by tobacco, dried herbs, cedar, and vanilla.  On the palate you will receive bright flavors of berry, spice and currant jam.  The body of the wine is full, yet sweet and smooth.  It’s deliciously balanced with a lingering finish.  To fully appreciate this wine, decant or aerate before serving.

 Blend: 52% Mourvedre, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Sangiovese
